From the West
If you are west of Asheville traveling on I-40 East toward Asheville, take Exit #46-B onto I-240 East future I-26 W. (Asheville) go 1 mile on 26 and take Exit 1-C (Amboy Rd). Look for us on the right. At the bottom of the exit turn right into Asheville Outdoor Center parking lot.
From the East
If you are east of Asheville traveling on I-40 West, take I-40 West to Exit #47. At the light turn right onto Hwy. 191 North. Go approximately 1 mile to the next light and turn right onto I-240 East, also shown as I-26 W future. Once on the ramp stay in the right lane and exit at 1-C Amboy Rd. Look for us on the right. At the bottom of the exit turn right into Asheville Outdoor Center parking lot.
From Interstate 26
Take 1-26 West to I-240 East (future I-26 W.)(Asheville). Take Exit 1-C (Amboy Rd). Look for us on the right. At the bottom of the exit turn right into Asheville Outdoor Center parking lot.
From the Downtown Area
Take I-240 West (future I-26 E.) to Exit 1-B (Farmers Market, Hwy. 191). Turn left at the light and pass over I-240. Turn left at the very next light (240 E and future I-26 W.) and stay in the right lane. Take Exit 1-C (Amboy Rd). Look for us on the right. Q. What are the trip times that we can go on a canoe, raft or S.O.T. kayak? A. The Asheville Outdoor Center offers trips at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM, with check-in 45 minutes prior to your trip departure. Q. How long does this trip take? A. Our 7-mile float trip generally takes about 2-3 hours. Trip times can vary with water levels, wind, different boat types and individual paddling efforts. Q. What are the age requirements ? A. Children as young as four ( 4) years-old can participate on our float trip, provided they weigh at least 35 lbs. Coast guard approved life jackets for children starting at 35 lbs. are available. Q.Can we pay by credit card? A. Yes credit cards are welcome, Mastercard & Visa are accepted. Q. Are we allowed to stop along the river banks? A. We ask all of our guests not to stop along the banks of the river. Both sides of the river bank are owned by the Biltmore Estate and are posted as no trespassing. Notes about safety and boaters/group leaders responsibility... As with all water related activities, a certain amount of risk is involved which could lead to injury or even death. It is the responsibility of the trip leaders to determine if the participants in their group have the skills and experience to paddle these types of rivers and the class rapids associated with them. All participants must fill out and sign a release of liability, acknowledgement of risks form prior to participation. ALL MINORS UNDER THE AGE OF 18, MUST HAVE PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN SIGN. No trip leader or group coordinator may sign for those under 18 years old. These forms are available at the time reservations are made, and can be sent to you and your group in advance.
